Annual Wassail
Start January off with a bang!
Make the most of a dark and cold January evening by joining us at the farm for our annual Wassail.
Wassailing is an Anglo-Saxon, Twelfth Night tradition with pagan roots that has been practised in Britain for centuries. We wassail to bless our orchards to ensure a good harvest for the year to come.
📅 Date: Saturday, 3rd January
📍 Venue: Loddington Farm (W3W// orange.faded.knee) - plenty of parking available
Timings
5.15pm - Follow the drumbeat on a circular walk through the orchards
6pm - Gather at "Old Man Apple Tree" for a traditional Wassail ceremony
6:30pm - Everybody in to the tractor shed for singing, Morris dancing, venison burgers and mulled cider.
This is always such a fun event for the whole family, not to mention it's free to attend and no need to book!
Please remember that this is a working farm so bring suitable footwear, warm clothing and a torch. And, it's a hullabaloo so feel free to bring drums or any percussion for the procession!

Old Apple Tree, we Wassail thee,
And hope that thou wilt bear,
Hatfuls, capfuls & three-bushel bagfuls,
and a little heap under the stairs.
Three cheers for the apple tree!
